Quotes & reflections
Original reflections by Benson Fox on meaning, emotions, and personal growth. This collection preserves artwork from the coaching archive and connects those reflections with the practice’s current psychodynamic writing.
The stories we carry
“Narratives are useful as a shortcut to making meaning of an experience but carry the danger of getting stuck in them by choosing to ignore any contradictory data or inputs.” — Benson Fox
A familiar story can help us organize an experience. It can also become worth revisiting. What does this story help me understand? What might it leave out? Can I make room for a new experience without dismissing what I have already lived through?
From a psychodynamic perspective, these questions invite curiosity about emotional patterns and relationships. The aim is to understand the meaning of an experience with compassion, rather than force yourself into a more positive story.
Reflection can respect commitments to Torah, emunah, marriage, family, and community. Your values and personal boundaries belong in the conversation; self-understanding need not begin by setting them aside.
